We all have our own singing habits that we’ve picked up over the years. We can sing our heart out, but sometimes it’s nice to just let it go and be yourself.
For example, a few months ago we had the pleasure of hosting the first ever i Don’t Care Keep Singing Live Concert in New York City, featuring the singer/songwriter Dan Carlin. Dan’s wife Heather was in the audience and she was singing Dan’s songs all night long. It was a pretty special night and one that has only gotten better since then.
It’s funny how so many people seem to have such a hard time singing along to a song. I have to admit though, I have my own singing habits. I like to go all-out with my vocal performance. At one point, I was about to turn in at the very last minute because I thought I was going to die. Now that I’m older and wiser, I realize that the reason I started doing it was because I was unhappy with what I was doing.
This is not an excuse, but you should never be afraid to sing your heart out. I know that for a fact. When I started singing at a higher volume, I would get quite a few strange looks from my fellow passengers. Now that I’ve been around long enough to have been around since I was a teenager, I’ve seen people with the same problem all my life. I think it’s the same thing with all of us.
Just think, if you are on a plane and the flight attendant is singing something, they would probably be surprised to see you. Now take that to the bank.
We were on a plane and the flight attendant was singing ‘The Way You Look Tonight’ by The Rolling Stones. We thought, “oh my God, I have to start singing something like this.” We all started singing along and then I started singing along, too.
It’s no surprise then that the flight attendant, who we are never told is actually a girl, started singing along too.
