In this short video and tutorial you'll learn how to quickly group objects in PowerPoint. Note: Watch this short tutorial screencast or follow the quick steps below, that complement this video.

To do this, I hold the Control button on the keyboard and click on each of them so that we all have them selected at the same time. You can also group together text boxes or practically any combination of objects on a slide by right-clicking on them and following the group step on the menu (Step 1).

If you create a group and then ungroup it so that you can work on its elements individually, you can easily regroup the objects: PowerPoint remembers which objects were in the group and automatically includes them.

You may want to group multiple objects into one, so they will stay together when they are moved or resized. This is often easier than selecting all the objects each time you want to move them.

You can click and drag to select more than one or you can click them individually while holding the Ctrl key. You can group shapes, pictures, or other objects (but not text boxes).

Press and hold CTRL while you click the shapes, pictures, or other objects to group. You will need to select more than one shape, picture or object in order to enable the Group button.

Note: The Drawing Tools Format or Picture Tools Format tabs are contextual, which means that they only appear on the ribbon when you have a shape or a picture selected. Select any one of the shapes, pictures, or objects that were previously in a group.

Here are some reasons why the Group button is grayed out and the things you can do to get it back. You can't use the Group tool with SVG icons, so those don't count.

Your selection includes a table, worksheet, or GIF image. If you are using PowerPoint, you might have tried to group something with the title placeholder text (“Click to add title”) or with the content placeholder (“Click to add text”).

To get the Group button back, move the shape, picture, or object to another location on your slide outside the placeholder text, or remove the placeholder from the things you want to group. Press and hold CTRL while you select the shapes, pictures, or objects that you want to group.

To ungroup shapes or other objects, under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Arrangement group, click Group, and then click Ungroup. If your selection includes a table, worksheet, or GIF image, the Group button will not be available.

Press and hold command while you use the mouse or touchpad to select the shapes, pictures, or other objects that you want to group. Note: The Shape Format and Picture Format tabs are contextual, which means that they only appear on the ribbon when you have a shape or a picture selected.

Office may display one or both of these tabs, depending on the types of objects that are currently selected in a page. If Group isn't visible on the ribbon,, click Arrange to display it.

Note: If the Group button is unavailable, verify that you have more than one object selected. If you can't select an additional object, verify that none of the objects that you want to add to the group has Word Wrap set to In Line with Text.

If Group isn't visible on the ribbon,, click Arrange to display it. Office dissolves the group, leaving the individual objects in their current location and selected.

However, if you have many objects on a slide, it may be difficult and time-consuming to get them perfectly aligned. Luckily, PowerPoint provides you with several alignment commands that allow you to easily arrange and position objects.

To select multiple objects at once, hold the Shift key while you click. The objects will align based on the option you selected.

To select multiple objects at once, hold the Shift key while you click. If this happens, try reinserting the images by using the Pictures command on the Insert tab.

From the Format tab, click the Group command, then select Ungroup. To change the ordering by one level: Select an object.

From the Format tab, click the Bring Forward or Send Backward command to change the object's ordering by one level. If there are multiple objects on the slide, you may need to click the command several times to achieve the desired ordering.

To bring an object to the front or back: If you want to move an object behind or in front of several objects, it's usually faster to bring it to front or send it to back instead of clicking the ordering commands multiple times. From the Format tab, click the Bring Forward or Send Backward drop-down arrow.

On the last slide, select the picture of the hamburger and Rotate Left 90°. Hold down the Shift key and select all three food pictures.
