We baked the perfectly seasoned grouper fillets and vegetables for a couple of reasons. Also, by roasting all of this together on a sheet pan, you get the time to throw the slaw ingredients together without having to watch over the fish while it cooks.
Place the sheet pan in the oven and bake for 20-25 min or until the internal temperature of the grouper reaches 145 degrees. While the grouper fillets bake, make the slaw by placing the sliced cabbages, sliced shallot, minced garlic, chopped cilantro lime zest, lime juice, salt and pepper in a large bowl.

If you’ve never tried grouper it’s a firm, extra lean, flaky, white fish that’s mild in flavor.
I made the fish while on vacation and it’s a one-skillet recipe that’s ready in 10 minutes and there are planned leftovers. The second night I sliced it for fish tacos complete with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and a whisk-together honey mustard-lemon sauce.
Add fish to skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes on first side, or until nicely seared and lightly golden browned. To make the fish tacos, lightly warm each taco shell momentarily on a dry skillet over medium-high heat before adding lettuce, sliced fish, sprinkling with tomatoes, and cheese; set aside while you make the sauce.
To a small bowl, add the mustard, honey, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and whisk to combine. Taste, check for flavor balance, and make any desired tweaks.

The Ugly Grouper 5704 Marina Dr, Holmes Beach, Anna Maria Island, FL 34217-1517 These tacos were unique...but I wasn’t a fan.
They were cool to look at but more shell than stuff on the inside. Our server Tiara was awesome...we had a huge group (19) and she handled us without too much gone wrong.
The restaurant added an automatic 20% tip since we were so large...the one situation was my friend called knowing they don’t make reservations but trying to see and a guy answered the phone and said we could have a reservation for our large group at 7, but be sure to be there on time...we were and the manager was like “nope...we don’t accept reservations”...but luckily my friend insisted (naming the person who said we could have one)...and we didn’t have to wait too long. There were plenty of tables after 7:30...if you go here I suggest early dinner or late one.
Extremely long wait, over an hour to get our food with many apologies from our server. Food when delivered was mediocre and overpriced.
Brian took care of us---he had a great sense of humor as did the other guy (sorry, forgot his name). There are places where you can hear better music and eat better food, but the overall combination of ambience, drinks, service, food and music made it my favorite stop during a week in the area.

Fresh grouper seasoned with your favorite blackened spices and seared in a cast-iron skillet makes for an easy dinner in under 30 minutes. Grouper has a mild yet distinct flavor, somewhere between sea bass and halibut.
For this recipe, I used creole seasonings to add a kick of heat and Cajun flavoring to the fish. Blackened spices include paprika and cayenne pepper with a few additional thrown in.
Searing grouper is best in a cast iron skillet because the pan can get hot quickly then go right into the oven to finish cooking. Depending on the thickness of your fish fillet, you’ll want to watch closely so as not to overcook and dry out the grouper.
Serve this grouper on slider buns with coleslaw, on a plate with roasted veggies, or in your favorite fish tacos. Other white fish options include halibut, sea bass, flounder and mahi-mahi.
