And the answer thus far has been yes, as such usage was seemingly built into TikTok's existing agreements with music publishers, many of which stemmed from back when it was called Musical.LY.
But, conversely, these entities won't be allowed to include popular tracks in their clips from now on. TikTok announced a range of new music licensing agreements back in January, and at that time, there was no noted differentiation between commercial and non-commercial use.
We've asked TikTok for further clarification, and will update this post if/when we hear back. The Commercial Music Library enables verified businesses or organizations on TikTok to access a pool of royalty free music for promotional content, and provides the tools and resources to help them further embrace the creativity and authenticity of the TikTok community.
It has the best interface to watch, create, and browse videos, but you might face difficulties sending direct messages. ByteDance acquired musical.LY in November 2017, and they changed the name musical.LY to TikTok in August 2018.

Sending a message on TikTok is a bit complex, but you will get used to it once you follow the instructions mentioned above. There are thousands of new users every month and it seems many of you are trying to get to grips with this video app.
Today we’re going to tackle the basics, like how to send a message on TikTok. When you first install TikTok, you have to create an account using your phone number, email address, or log in using Facebook.
Swipe left for another video or allow the one on-screen to finish to automatically begin another. Figuring out the interface (or all the buttons and options in the TikTok app) is fairly simple.
When you first open the app videos begin to play instantly. You have options from the home screen at the top to the right, and at the bottom of the app.
The home option takes you to the main page of TikTok where videos are automatically played. The ‘Plus’ icon located in the middle is where you tap to add your own gloriously flawless and unique TikTok videos.
If the user is someone who you recently friended toucan tap on the icon that looks like a message next to the plus sign to access their profile. This takes you to your recent activity so it’s a slight shortcut to the messaging option.
TikTok has amped up its policies to protect younger audiences and prevent spamming. Those under 16 years old do not have access to messaging (there’s a whole law, and they paid millions of dollars for violations of that law; if you were wondering why) You have to set up a valid phone number to send messages.
For those who don’t meet the guidelines toucan still comment on videos and follow your favorite creators. Toucan see comments on your uploads by selecting the video in question and tapping the speech bubble.
Changing this setting helps manage any negativity you might experience while on TikTok. This is usually a temporary thing and will usually be a problem with the TikTok messaging system or an app update you need to download.
Facebook is bringing the best of Messenger to Instagram DMs, which will allow users on both platforms to seamlessly connect with each other. In addition to cross-platform messaging, a total of 10 new features are coming to Instagram DMs.
Aside from the above new features, which users can choose to utilize or not, the main change to be aware of is who’s able to message you. People using Messenger can now reach you on Instagram without you needing to download a new app, and vice versa.
Some of these features, such as custom emoji reactions and selfie stickers, will be available on Instagram first and come to Messenger after. Now, on Facebook’s family of apps alone, people send more than 100 billion messages to each other every day.
Facebook’s internal research finds that four out of five people who use messaging apps in the US say they’re important for spending more time with friends and family. With these updates it will be even easier for people to stay connected and express themselves in new ways.
To start, Facebook is rolling out these new features on Instagram and Messenger in “a few countries” around the world. Facebook doesn’t name the countries receiving the update first, though does say it will be expanded globally soon.
