How you create folders isn't immediately obvious, but once you learn the trick, it's simple. If you have one of those phones, don't press too hard or you'll trigger a menu or shortcut.

In iOS 7 and higher, the folder and its suggested name take up the entire screen. When you've added all the apps you want and edited the name, click the Home button on the front center, and your changes will be saved (just like when re-arranging icons).

If you have an iPhone X, XS, XR, or newer, there's no Home button to click. If you've already created a folder on your iPhone, you may want to edit it by changing the name, adding or removing apps, and more.

Tap and hold the folder that you want to remove the app from. When the apps and folders start wiggling, remove your finger from the screen.

The four apps across the bottom of the iPhone live in what's called the Dock. Move one of the apps currently in the dock out by tapping, holding, and dragging it to the home screen's main area.

Press the Home or Done button, depending on your iPhone model, to save the change. Deleting a folder is similar to removing an app.

Toucan move apps around the Home Screen, organize them in folders, find them in the App Library, and reset the original layout. Note: The App Library (a space at the end of your Home Screen pages) shows your apps automatically organized into categories, such as Productivity, Reference & Reading, and Creativity.

The dots above the Dock show how many pages you have and which one you ’re viewing. When you ’re finished, press the Home button (on an iPhone with a Home button) or tap Done (on other iPhone models).

Youcangroup your apps in folders to help you find them more easily on the Home Screen. To rename the folder, tap the name field, then enter the new name.

Tap Reset Home Screen Layout. Any folders you ’ve created are removed, and apps you ’ve downloaded are alphabetically ordered after apps that came with your iPhone.

If you have an unorganized home screen on your iPhone, the following guide should teach you how to arrange apps on your iPhone and iPad so your home screens will be well organized and toucan quickly find the apps you need. That way toucan remove the clutter from your home screen and make them a better place for everyone who uses your device.

Apple itself suggests its users to keep your apps arranged in a certain way so that toucan find them when you need them. In the following post, you will learn how to arrange iPhone and iPad apps in the most efficient and organized way.

As you already know, there’s limited space in the Dock so you should choose the most used app on your iPhone to be placed there. Toucan drag any app on your home screen and drop it onto the Dock and it will sit there.

Toucan then tap on the app icon in the Dock to launch it anytime you want. Using the folders feature, youcangroup related apps on your iPhone or iPad.

Simply tap and hold on an app and drag it onto the other home screen and it will be placed there. If this is the first time you heard about the app, let’s see how toucan use it to arrange icons on your iPhone or iPad’s home screens.

BigTunaOnline/Shutterstock Organizing your iPhone or iPad Home screen can be an unpleasant experience. Even if you have a layout in mind, Apple’s rigid approach to icon placement can be imprecise and frustrating.

Fortunately, Apple’s iOS 14 update will make the Home screen much better later this year. In the meantime, though, here are some tips for organizing your apps and making the Home screen a more functional space.

Dragging an app to the left or right edge will move it to the previous or next screen. Other times, you ’ll need to hover for a second before your iPhone switches Home screens.

Toucan create folders by dragging one app and holding it on top of another for a second. Fortunately, toucan select multiple icons at once and deposit them all on a screen or in a folder.

Toucan stack multiple apps this way to really speed up the organization process. For example, toucan put the apps you use most often in the Dock, and any remaining ones on your Home screen.

Toucan make the most of this space by putting the apps you want to be able to access quickly on the first screen. Folders take time to open and scroll through, so it might be better to place those on the second Home screen.

Most people rely on the Dock unconsciously to access apps like Messages, Safari, or Mail. The most obvious way to organize your apps is to divide them by purpose into folders.

If you don’t find generic labels like “Photography” or “Work” very useful, give this a shot, instead. Stock apps will appear on the first Home screen, but everything else will be listed alphabetically.

Apps like Strata and Twitter are easy to find because their strong, vibrant branding stands out, even on a cluttered Home screen. Toucan find any app quickly and efficiently simply by typing the first few letters of its name in the Spotlight search engine.

Toucan even take it a step further and search for data inside apps, like Evernote notes or Google Drive documents. This is by far the quickest way of interacting with apps outside the Dock or primary Home screen.

Toucan search for categories of apps (like “games”), settings panels, people, news stories, podcasts, music, Safari bookmarks or history, and so much more. For best results, toucan also fully customize Spotlight search to only show you what you want.

If you ’re an organization junkie and an iPhone user, then iOS 14 has provided you with a new tool: the App Library, which organizes your apps in labeled groups to make them easier to find. In fact, all your current app scan now be found there, and any apps you download in the future will be placed there as well.

(Toucan decide whether you want the apps to also be visible on your home screen; we’ll tell you how later in this article.) The App Library appears as a separate page on your home screen.

After you ’ve updated to iOS 14, just keep swiping left; the App Library will be the last page you hit. It automatically organizes your apps into folders that are labeled with a variety of categories.

For example, just after updating to the new OS, mine included Recently Added, Utilities, Productivity & Finance, Social, Creativity, Information & Readings, Games, Entertainment, Health & Fitness, and Travel. If a folder holds more than four apps, the remaining icons are shrunk down and grouped into a single quadrant.

If the app is part of a group of smaller icons (and therefore too small to tap), tap anywhere in that quadrant and the entire category will fill your screen so toucan select the app you want. For example, I installed an app called NYC 311, which offers alerts and info for the city.

If you want to clean up your home screen, toucan “remove” icons so that they are only visible in the App Library. Go to Settings > Home Screen Choose either “Add to Home Screen” or “App Library Only.” You can also opt to have notification badges shown in the App Library.

As mentioned, the App Library is an interesting addition to the iOS arsenal, allowing for increased organization of apps and a cleaner, less crowded home screen.
