This tiny Cortez restaurant has made the national news, and there’s good reason for that: The grouper sandwich here was insanely fresh, simply grilled and served no-frills style in an unassuming white box. Yup, we were a little shocked ourselves, but this was by far the fanciest grouper sandwich of the bunch, served blackened and topped with Key lime mustard, avocado and fresh lettuce and tomato.

The owners original concept was to take a small popular village beer and hot dog stand and turn it into a casual Restaurant and Pub. They have mixed the best of the Florida Keys and their British heritage to create a fun family environment that is appealing to people from all walks of life. There are now 2 locations, and they are patronized not only by their many regular local customers and characters, but they also enjoy abundant new and repeat business from all over the United States and from around the World.

All their seafood is great but don't miss the Grouper sandwich Huge and reasonably priced. Great views of the pass and boat traffic.

Special was snapper, I ordered it as a sandwich grilled. Still slammed with tourists even today but that shouldn't change the food quality.

The Reuben grouper was soggy the bread didn’t hold up. But our server was very nice and honest with which seafood was made Sarasota fresh, and she tended to our needs especially with a hungry angry 4-year-old.

I've eaten at the Old Salty Dog several times in the past and might have reviewed it years ago. It was mainly a good place for casual food on the water.

This weekend I went with a friend who was visiting and again, wanted to go to a place with water views. Delicious Mali with large pieces of grilled fish and a great sauce.
