One of the nation’s premier inland striped bass fisheries is Lake Tacoma. Because Lake Tacoma is on the border, anglers fishing the Texas side must purchase a Texas fishing license, while anglers on the Oklahoma side must purchase an Oklahoma fishing license.

Lake Tacoma is well-rounded and offers ample opportunities to catch a variety of species including trophy-sized blue catfish, small mouth bass, large mouth bass, crappie, gar and paddle fish. Flint Creek is a stream located just 15 miles from Westville, in northeast Oklahoma.

It is a gorgeous little stream absolutely loaded with sallies and an occasional spotted and large mouth bass. For beautiful surroundings, head out to Qua nah Parker Lake in Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge.

The lake offers 89 surface acres of water within three miles of shoreline. Although small, you'll still catch Channel catfish, crappie, large mouth bass, sunfish and a few other species.

Being the largest lake in Oklahoma, approximately 600 miles of shoreline and 102,200 surface acres offers plenty of fishing opportunity. You can access the Deep Fork River in a number of places near Ocmulgee or at the bridge near Guyana Creek Winery.

Broken Bow Lake's crystal clear waters provide one of the best year-round fishing spots in Oklahoma. Upper Mountain Fork River in southeastern Oklahoma is located just northeast of Broken Bow.

The cool waters issuing below Broken Bow dam provide year round habitat and fishing for Rainbow and Brown Trout which are stocked regularly throughout the year. Striped bass are also common in the lower Illinois River with several state record fish coming from its waters.

When she isn't exploring Oklahoma, she enjoys visiting the beaches of California. Due to the escalation of the coronavirus outbreak, local destinations for outdoor recreation may be closed.

The use of gas-powered motors is prohibited, which makes this reservoir the perfect place for a quiet day of fishing. It does have a boat ramp, fire rings, and picnic tables, but you won’t be able to camp on site.

The Wildlife Department stocks Medicine Creek with rainbow trout in the winter months, but the fishing here is good all year long. It’s family friendly and easy for kids to access because granite rock lines the banks of the creek.

Lake Default is one of the premier vacation spots in Oklahoma, but it’s also one of the most popular fishing destinations. There is a kid’s pond, perfect for when you have youngsters not ready for the lake, and there’s even an enclosed fishing dock for colder months.

With more than 1,300 miles of shoreline, it might be difficult to figure out where to start, but the Bernice Area is a good place to put your line in the water and get a taste of what’s available. You’ll find small mouth and large mouth bass, crappie, multiple varieties of catfish, and hybrid stripes.

Check the fishing reports to make sure the lake levels aren’t too high to get into the park. You’ll also find many local resources to help you figure out the best spots around the lake to catch the fish you’re hoping.

Due to the escalation of the coronavirus outbreak, local destinations for outdoor recreation may be closed. Fishing dock is heavily baited for crappie and catfish.

The Bass master Classic returned twice to Tulsa for anglers to compete on the Grand Lake O' the Cherokees because the waters produce trophy bass suitable for this premier event, which is considered the Super Bowl of fishing. The state also has six seasonal fisheries that are stocked by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. The seasonal fisheries are stocked from November through March or April, giving anglers an opportunity for winter fishing when it is more difficult to target other species.

Ultralight fishing gear with four- to six-pound test line and small hooks can provide some of the best action on the water. Trout fishing regulations, including daily and size limits, restricted areas, and license information is available at the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.

Find the best spots to cast your line with our list of the top Oklahoma trout fishing lakes and rivers. The Lower Mountain Fork River is a year-round trout fishery along a 12-mile stretch, from the Broken Bow Reservoir spillway downstream to the U.S. 70 Bridge.

A popular five-mile stretch for anglers lies within Beavers Bend State Park in Curtain County, providing easy access to the water. For anglers who want to make a weekend trip out of it there are camping and cabin rentals available within Beavers Bend State Park.

This is the second year-round trout fishery in Oklahoma that includes a nearly eight-mile section of the Illinois River, from the Ten killer Ferry Dam to the U.S.64 bridge near Gore in Sequoya County. To reach the area, head north on State Highway 100 from Gore about four miles.

There are four other public access points along the designated trout stream, including a popular spot that accesses a pool in the river located immediately below the dam where trout fishing is allowed even during high power generation. The Blue River is a seasonal winter trout fishery that is stocked from November 1 to March 31 giving anglers a chance to throw their line during the colder months.

The trout designated section is a six-mile stretch that runs through the Blue River Public Fishing and Hunting Area near Tishomingo. The stream has a series of pools and plunges, giving anglers a variety of depths and techniques to try for brown and rainbow trout.

The tranquil setting of Lake Carl Ending is part of the appeal of this winter trout fishery. The lake is located at Black Mesa State Park in Kenton, Oklahoma.

Boat ramps are located on the south and east sides for fishing on the water. To get to Lake Carl Ending, head 28 miles west on U.S. 325 from Boise City.

For anglers who are looking for a peaceful day on the water as much as a great fishing opportunity, Medicine Creek will not disappoint. The section to target is bordered by the Gondola Lake Dam on the north and the State Highway 49 bridge on the south.

There is another public access point north of the State Highway 49 bridge where you will also find parking. Anglers should be aware of some private property in the area and heed “no trespassing” signs.

Lake Perry is only five miles off interstate 35, so it is a great trout fishery to target if you are looking for quick access to the water. There is plenty of bank access along the water and a boat ramp located on the west side of the lake.

From the town of Wilbur ton, go five miles north on State Highway 2 to access the park. The trout fishery is a 1.5-mile stretch located on the south section of the park below Carlton Dam in the Force Marine River.

There is ample bank access to the water, and wade fishing is available anywhere within the state park. The 55-acre lake is in the Central Park of the state and sits in a canyon surrounded by rocky cliffs, streams, and picturesque scenery.

Anglers catch hundreds of brawny, beautiful and delicious species in teeming estuaries, off gorgeous beaches and in the deep blue oceans surrounding the Florida peninsula. The reasons for fishing are as varied as the species and the methods of catching them.

Or, catch bass species that thrive only in North Florida rivers such as the magnificent Suwanee, where class III rapids add serious excitement to a fishing trip on the river between White Springs and the Town of Suwanee, where the river passes through the Lower Suwanee National Wildlife Refuge, pouring out into the Gulf of Mexico. Whether it’s a red snapper caught off Destiny, speckled trout from Tampa Bay, or a mess of crappie from Tallahassee ’s Lake Alcuin, there’s not much more satisfying or delicious than eating fish you caught yourself.

Most places you can find a restaurant that will cook your catch to order. Florida ’s the place to fire up a young angler’s inner fishing fanatic.

Spring break or summer vacation are both great times for feisty, delicious easy-to-catch fish. The biggest sea trout on record came from Fort Pierce.

POOR day basically means the fish will either steal all your bait or will not even touch your line. GOOD day means that you will catch enough fish to feel gratified.
