Ditto what others said... I can easily find out what I'm catching and know the rules. Florida rules changed on Redfish since last year's vacation, glad I grabbed this app as FCC was checking coolers.

In addition, a new freshwater version of the app is being created and is anticipated to be rolled out later this summer. “FCC staff and law enforcement have been using this tool for years now due to its excellence in keeping Florida anglers up-to-date on the latest in saltwater fishing regulations,” said Jessica McCauley, FCC’s Director for the Division of Marine Fisheries Management.

“We thank Fish Rules App for expanding to make a freshwater version. Our partnership with Fish Rules will strengthen the communication of fishing regulations with our anglers,” said Jon Fury, FCC’s Director for the Division of Freshwater Fisheries Management.

Fish Rules is always looking for more photos to add to the app and will need freshwater shots as well. Preferred shots include the fish being held horizontally and taking up as much of the image as possible.

Fish Rules is a new and innovative way to understand recreational saltwater fishing regulations for state and federal waters from Maine to Texas. Fish Rules simplifies saltwater fishing regulations into an easy-to-understand format.

Fish Rules uses your phone's GPS and calendar to show only the regulations you need. Manually enter your latitude/longitude or select your fishing location to get the regulations you need.

Review your fish log to find patterns and improve your success on the water. Swipe an image to see identification clues and additional photos. Fish Rules App is NOT a lame PDF reader.

Features Regulations are continuously updated throughout the year by Fish Rules staff and NOAA. • App is able to run entirely on your device.• Location Filter: Use your phone's built in GPS or manually select your fishing spot to identify which regulations apply.

This app does not let you lock in a location so each time I go fishing and open the app it wants to put me back in state waters and I have to open the settings and zoom out and set my location to federal waters and then go back and look at regulations. Please give an option to lock your location and not be asked or have to set it manually each time.

And it won’t work when out of cell phone range offshore to use the GPS option so that’s out too. Prior to the update, I could set the map on my normal home area, Panama City Beach and the app would always open to that location and load species and rules for that region.

After update, it automatically sets my location to Ga State Waters because that is where I live. I have to reset the map and when I go into a fish and look at regulations, it defaults back to Ga State waters (my home location) This has almost rendered the app more frustrating than useful now.

Now it is just a frustration having to reset the map location after each regulation view. Since I fish and dive 95% of time in PCB, I’d like for it to stay there rather than reverting to Ga State waters where I permanently live.

Also, since it's a fishing rules app, i don't understand the need for things to have to scroll through like manatees, coral, whales, sea turtles. I'm pretty sure no one needs to look up if they can keep that humpback whale they foul hooked :-/.

It seems like a waste of space as there is already tons of species of fish here in Florida to have to identify, why clutter it more with unnecessary pointless info to have to navigate through..... I've seem the creator on DMD (that's how I found it) he seems like a logical guy. The developer, Fish Rules, LLC., has not provided details about its privacy practices and handling of data to Apple.
