Newly available Ford Sync 3 infotainment includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. Yet the C-Max persists, even five years into its lifecycle, as an intriguing option for consumers who require high levels of fuel economy to be mixed with hatchback practicality and driver engagement. Unfortunately, Ford’s product execution was never met with marketplace demand, at least not in the United States where the C-Max was tasked with battling an entrenched leader. I purchased a Ford C-Max Hybrid after finding out that it was easy to get into and out of, that it handled well and it was inexpensive and Ford would lend me the purchase price at no interest. The car is comfortable, has room enough for my wife and myself, gets good gas mileage, and has good sound.

The C-Max rides on the same platform as the athletic Ford Focus, and many of the Focus’s desirable driving characteristics shine through. Steering responses are accurate, and effort is pleasantly hefty. The tall C-Max leans a bit in corners, and its performance on the skidpad—a test designed more to measure a car’s ability to hold the road when cornering than how it feels while doing it—was just okay. Rumors are flying that Ford will end U.S. sales of the C-Max at the end of 2018. The plug-in Energi version was discontinued at the end of the 2017 model year, leaving the C-Max hybrid to soldier on alone unchanged from 2017. Both vehicles are versions of the C-Max and offer many of the same feature options.

Its hatchback body style means it has a large, tall cargo hold, and its in-cabin storage is ample. The C-Max’s rear seats flip down easily using a lever mounted on the outboard side of each seat; they fold parallel to the floor and make a flat load surface. We managed to fit six carry-on suitcases behind the rear seat and a whopping 20 with the rear seats folded. Because of its electric engine, it gets 87 mpg city and 104 mpg highway. Its most notable feature is the 240-volt charging system which lets it recharge in 2.5 hours, faster than many competitors.

If you’re looking for the most efficient hybrid, there are much better alternatives than the Ford C-Max. Still, the C-Max has impressive gas mileage for a hybrid of its price. Considering its impeccable reliability and low ownership costs, we think the Ford C-Max is a great value.

Ford’s newfound status as a leader in interior design and material quality is evident in the 2013 C-Max. The 5-passenger cabin is filled with attractive, soft-touch surfaces that combine to produce a remarkably upscale feel, particularly for this class of vehicle. Ergonomics are excellent, with controls that are user-friendly and easily accessible. Headroom is overly abundant what part of a mac address serves as the extension identifier, or device id? in all seating positions, and rear legroom is suitable for six-footers. The cargo area offers slightly more space than the regular Prius, but significantly less than the larger Prius V. Hybrid vehicle drivers traditionally saw superior fuel-economy figures in city driving, so loyalists maximized their fuel economy through regenerative braking in stop-and-go traffic.

However, not everyone is familiar with Ford’s very first hybrid vehicle, the C-Max wagon. The C-Max was only on the market for five years before it was discontinued. However, just because it was phased out so early doesn’t mean it’s not a great car.

With the growing trend of commuters spending more time on the roads, the C-MAX Energi’s combination of fuel efficient highway driving and electric-powered city driving is more important than ever. With a 108 MPGe city rating and 92 MPGe on the highway, C-MAX Energi gives customers leading fuel efficiency throughout their commute. The new ratings are much closer to the real-world mileage of 36 to 39 mpg achieved by both reviewers and owners. That remained a credible number for a heavy and well-equipped five-door compact car, but the purpose-built Toyota Prius range still trounces it, delivering real-world gas mileage of more than 50 mpg combined .
